I'm a girl that's crazy about kindness and encouragement. Not only is it a good thing to do as a human, it's also biblical. ( See Ephesians 4:32 )
In this blog post, I wanted to share with you 5 creative ways to be kind to people.
I firmly believe a kind word, gesture, or gift can make a huge difference in someones world. And just think, your act of kindness could start a chain reaction of kindness!
1. Leave an encouraging note for someone to find
This one is fun to do! I love to write short little notes on bright colored paper and put them in random places, like on a shelf at a grocery store, in a shopping cart or on the table at a restaurant. The possibilities are endless!
2. Make your neighbor a dessert/meal
Think of a neighbor you know that you haven't talked to in a while and make them a dessert or a meal they like, just because. If you're not into cooking, go to a local bakery and pick something out to take to them. One time when I was a kid, someone left a cute Halloween basket full of treats for my brother and I on our porch. I have no idea which neighbor did it, but it was the sweetest surprise and so unexpected!
3. Leave your waiter/waitress a small gift
This tip requires some planning ahead, but it's totally worth it. Waiters/waitresses work hard to serve us, especially when the restaurant is packed with people. You could stop at a store on the way to dinner and get a $5 gift card of some sort, or a candy bar, or a card with an encouraging note inside. Leave this small gift along with your tip. You never know, they could be having a really rough day and your kindness could make them smile!

4. Mail a handwritten letter
I'm grateful for the technology we have today, but I still have a heart for handwritten letters and cards. Take some time this week to mail a letter to someone you haven't seen or talked to in a while and fill it up with encouragement and kind words!
5. Leave sticky notes everywhere
But not just ordinary sticky notes, nope...Get some bright colored ones and write encouraging messages on them and stick them just about everywhere. Bathroom mirrors, restaurant tables, in a store on a shelf, in a book at the book store/library, in a class room, etc. The possibilities are endless with this one! Make it a goal to put 5-10 sticky notes in different places this week.
BONUS: Leave cash at a gas pump
This one is so much fun to me! Whether you have an extra $5-$20 to spare, leave it at the gas pump with a sticky note to hold it in place. Write something encouraging on the note for the next person to find. :)
I hope this has sparked your creativity for kindness. These are just a few of my favorite ways to show love and kindness in our world today, but they're not the only ways. Get creative and write down some of your favorite ways to be kind, too!
